Fresh ideas at KIT celebrate anniversary!
Good reasons for participating
Every year, the best ideas and projects from a number of interesting submissions are awarded. "With the Idea Award, we honor ideas with high innovation potential and potential for implementation in business and society. With the Transfer Award, we honor projects that have led to successful cooperations with companies," explains Prof. Thomas Hirth, Vice President for Transfer and International Affairs at KIT. In addition to the cash prizes and awards, participation can be worthwhile for scientific employees in many ways, says multiple award winner Prof. Ute Schepers: "We are motivated to participate every year because this way we generate new ideas in our working group and among the employees, which we then also implement during the year. It's kind of a think tank for us in the lab: Creating something new that is transferred to society afterwards. I would like to give all future participants the following advice: Be brave and submit ideas. It is a wonderful experience and you never know what the outcome will be. It can result in a spin-off, great projects or PhD students who find a job in this field with a nice portfolio later on. Of course, an award like this also has a high value for research, because you want to transfer the ideas into society, that you have submitted and with which you may have won, for example as a patent or as a project for the industry."
Once again this year, it's worth submitting plenty of ideas. Be part of the anniversary edition and top it with winning the award for your innovation. In a separate article, we have compiled further reasons for your participation in the contest. See for yourself why it's worth submitting an application!
Competition criteria
Project ideas must be based on know-how from KIT and aim the technology transfer. Scientific employees and PhD students of KIT are eligible to participate. Selection criteria for the award include creativity, level of innovation, market proximity and size, feasibility, and commercialization potential. The jury consists of external company representatives.
Special Award 2022
In addition to the categories Idea Award and Transfer Award, this year's 10th anniversary will in addition have a Special Award 2022. This will be awarded to past participants of the last nine years (1st to 3rd place) from the Idea Award category and award winners who have successfully further developed their ideas in the meantime.
Seize the opportunity!
Prof. Thomas Hirth, Vice President for Transfer and International Affairs, would like to encourage academic employees to take the first step towards transfer: "If you have an idea with high innovation potential or have successfully realized a project with a partner from industry, then you should enter the NEULAND 2022 Innovation Contest now." Submissions are still possible and very welcome until March 31st, 2022. Simply download the application form, enter your idea and send it to Dr. Rainer Körber. He will also be very happy to answer any questions you may have.
Further information and the application form can be found on the NEULAND website! We are looking forward to your application and your contribution to the economy and society with outstanding innovations!
