Smart Data Potential Analyses for SMEs
In the context of Industry 4.0, data is one of the most important resources for many companies for the optimization and further development of products and production processes. Being able to evaluate the potential uses of a company's data treasure in greater depth often requires high time investments, internal expertise or available personnel – especially in small to medium-sized companies (SME).
Application
A classic use case is, to put data sets – such as quality assurance and machine data – in correlation by means of artificial intelligence methods to be able to predict influences of process parameters and environmental influences on the product result or to optimize processes with respect to quality, throughput or costs. TECO at KIT supports industrial companies in data-driven innovations using potential analyses – in cooperation with Smart Data Innovation Lab (SDIL) from KIT.
Solution approach
Within the scope of agile projects, potentials are uncovered on the basis of real data from industrial production and a recommended course of action is given. After defining the project goals, TECO researchers examine the available data sets with regard to the objective using state-of-the-art machine learning tools and infrastructures. In the implementation phase, KIT data experts demonstrate different data strategies as a result of exploratory data analysis as well as precise application possibilities of current machine learning algorithms and methods to exploit the potential for the defined use case. Taking into account the requirements and resources communicated by the industry partner, TECO experts finally evaluate the developed strategies and outline potential measures and risks in the upcoming project realization.
Benefit
The potential analysis offers companies the opportunity to discover previously unknown correlations in existing data sets and consequently achieve an optimization of processes, resources and products. The derived machine learning models can be optimized for operation in a further phase. The prerequisite for using this offer is that existing data can be made available for analysis. If necessary, the general suitability of the data can be clarified in advance with the experts.
Offer for companies
With its services, the TECO research group offers easy usage of Big Data technologies and artificial intelligence as well as space for experiments, supported by comprehensive infrastructure and know-how of KIT. For SMEs, there is the possibility of funding.
